Already before 8 a.m. on August 12th, 2015 Elvis fans from all over the world gathered at Graceland to join the revealing of the Elvis Presley Forever stamp. The first Elvis stamp was revealed in 1993, and now Elvis is one of the few people to be on two stamps in the United States. The stamp is able to forever spread the image of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll all over the world.
At warm temperatures Elvis fans were able to enter Graceland for free and come together on the left side of the mansion’s entrance to take a first look at the Forever stamp. Also, stamps on a special envelope (First-Day-of-Issue) were given away to the fans for free. Several people held short speeches during the ceremony that took about 45 minutes. Priscilla Presley, former wife of Elvis Presley, joined the ceremony as a special guest and helped revealing the stamp.
During the ceremony, the National Anthem was played and there was a sneak peak listening of „If I can Dream“: this song will be featured on the same-named CD, which will be released on October 31st, and which is Priscilla Presley’s project. The songs combine Elvis Presley’s original vocals with the London orchestra, as he always dreamed of performing with a huge orchestra. The whole stamp event was broadcasted via livestream on graceland.com.
