Before I had moved to Florida I have been collecting information about that state since my childhood. The thing with the snakes had always been the most impressive part – especially with snakes which make their way into peoples’ apartments through canalization. That’s truly hat nightmares are made of! Well, not everything in Florida is sunshine, palm trees, turquoise water and beach, of course. One has to admit there’re also many not-so-paradise-like things: namely snakes, bears, pumas, a partly very high crime rate and yes, even human trafficking.

Short Trip to Florida
In March I spontaneously went to Florida to warm myself up in 86°F after that Northern coldness of 30°F. I started early in the morning and arrived in Orlando at noon. Let me repeat this: I love Orlando! And the area around! It’s all so green, there’re so many lakes, all so wide open. Fantastic! But this time – after having wished to do so for so long I finally watched the Cirque de Soleil Show “La Nouba” in downtown Disney. It’s certainly not comparable to the great Las Vegas productions like Ká or O, but altogether pretty nice. The second day I spent at the beach and this beach had a cool surprise for me – more details about that later.

Elvis Tribute Artist Ben Portsmouth Travels the World Enjoying his Afternoon Tea…
At the purple-black decorated desk in the New Daisy Theatre on famous Beale Street in downtown Memphis I sit working – and, waiting for all the fans to finally get their autographs and take their photos of themselves together with Elvis-Impersonator Ben Portsmouth, who just minutes ago was sitting right there on a white wooden folding chair performing his acoustic concert. It’s Elvis Week 2015 and the city is crowded with men, women and even children who look astonishingly similar to Elvis Presley. Ben Portsmouth though is looking rather casual right now with his plain white T-shirt and fawn-colored trousers as he welcomes his fans with an excessively charismatic smile. At long last – after all the fans have had their chance to shake hands with him – Ben appears with a stack of New Zealand chocolate, a much appreciated gift from his fans. Ben directs his eyes to me as if to acknowledge what we both know – we’re starving – and so Ben proposes we go out to lunch.

The Walking Dead in Georgia: A Self-Guided Tour to the Filming Locations South of Atlanta
Beware of massive season 2 and 3 spoilers! Every big fan of The Walking Dead should include a visit of the filming locations when staying in Atlanta, Georgia. This year I finally took time for this self-guided tour. Starting up rather late I didn’t see many of the locations, as darkness cropped up… These locations are not the ones in the center of Atlanta but only some of those in the South of Georgia’s capital. The starting point of my 2-hours-trip was Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta.

Bright Sunshine and Gloriously Blue Sky in Atlanta
I think there’s no better weather than bright sunshine and an intensively blue sky. The rather shallowly light blue sky in Germany is just as annoying as these grey clouds you’ll find in German skies too often. Therefore here’s a real good spirit picture as a contrast to the everlasting grey sky in Germany – like seen today.
