On August 13, 2015 the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Finals took place at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Each year since 2007, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion is crowned. During the finals ten Tribute Artists compete against each other. However, they are not compared against each other but against Elvis Presley. Vocals (40 percent), style, stage wear, and stage presence (each 20 percent) are the criteria counting in order to find the one person, who represents Elvis best.

In 2013 Dean Z won the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, Tennessee and ever since he performs as Elvis all over the world. Besides that Dean Z does not only perform with his own bands “The Kraken” and “The Gimps”, but is also able to both look and sound like Buddy Holly! He does that so good, that I did not even recognize him, when I ran into him before the concert – even though I interviewed him in July in England…

Already before 8 a.m. on August 12th, 2015 Elvis fans from all over the world gathered at Graceland to join the revealing of the Elvis Presley Forever stamp. The first Elvis stamp was revealed in 1993, and now Elvis is one of the few people to be on two stamps in the United States. The stamp is able to forever spread the image of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll all over the world.

Last night the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) Contest Preliminary Rounds took place at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee. This contest for sure is one of the highlights during Elvis Week, because here the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion is crowned. If you take a look at how short the nights during Elvis Week are, it was pretty early, when Elvis fans from all over the world came together at the New Daisy Theater in Beale Street, Downtown Memphis at 1 p.m. to see Elvis Tribute Artist Ben Portsmouth live on stage. Ben did an acoustic concert: just Ben, his guitar, his voice, and the tapping of his (mostly) right shoe… I already enjoyed the soundcheck, but (of course) the concert itself was much better than that!

Elvis Week live! Standing ovations for three great artists! It was the second concert starring three Ultimate Elvis Tribute Champions at the New Daisy Theater in Beale Street Memphis, and again it was entertainment at it’s best! Dean Z, Jay Dupuis, and Ben Portsmouth took everyone back in time: Dean Z performed as the young Elvis, Jay Dupuis did the ’68 Comeback Special, and Ben Portsmouth reminded everyone how great the early ’70s have been.

It was the first concert evening during Elvis Week 2015 and these three guys totally nailed it: Cody Ray Slaughter, Dean Z and Shawn Klush! More than 500 Elvis fans from all over the world came together at the New Daisy Theater in famous Beale Street, Downtown Memphis, to celebrate Elvis Presley, his music, and of course to see the three Elvis Tribute Artist Champions live on stage!
