Dean Z, Jay Dupuis, and Ben Portsmouth at the New Daisy Theater during Elvis Week 2015

Elvis Week live! Standing ovations for three great artists! It was the second concert starring three Ultimate Elvis Tribute Champions at the New Daisy Theater in Beale Street Memphis, and again it was entertainment at it’s best! Dean Z, Jay Dupuis, and Ben Portsmouth took everyone back in time: Dean Z performed as the young Elvis, Jay Dupuis did the ’68 Comeback Special, and Ben Portsmouth reminded everyone how great the early ’70s have been.

When Dean Z, who already rocked at the theater yesterday, entered the stage, everyone got very excited. He definitely did an outstanding performance of the young Elvis, looking and sounding just like him, and dancing and shaking as if there’s no tomorrow. When he left the stage and went into the crowed, everybody tried to get close to Dean Z, but even while being on stage, lots of women came up front in order to get a handshake or kiss.

Right after he left the stage, Jay Dupuis introduced the audience to the year 1968: the year of Elvis Presley’s fabulous ’68 Comeback Special! In a black leather suit and with black leather wristbands, he rocked the stage for about one hour. Besides Lawdy Miss Clawdy and Tryin’ to get to you, he also performed One Night with You. Jay also left the stage and entertained from inbetween the tables.

Ben Portsmouth was the last Tribute Artist to perform this evening, and he did an outstanding job. Even before he entered the stage, he encouraged the audience to yellings and standing ovations! Being from Geat Britian, Ben is the only Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion from outside the US to ever receive this title. His performance as the 1970-Elvis was the most outstanding performance I have ever seen, and I would say: this is as close to Elvis as it gets! Not only did Ben play the guitar, he also did an awesome job at the keyboard. It seemed like everyone got completely lost in this performance! No other Tribute Artist got so many “I love you’s” screamed at!

The second concert evening was just as good as the first one. We were able to watch three talented young men doing an amazing job representing Elvis Presley. For me it was the first time ever to see Ben Portsmouth perform, as he did not make it to „Europe’s Tribute to Elvis“ Festival in Blackpool, England in July. I have been told before how awesome his shows are, but it was definitely worth it to check it out by myself: I can tell, he for sure belongs to the best Elvis impersonators! If you would like to see him live on stage, go to the New Daisy Theater today at 1 p.m. for “Ben Portsmouth: Acoustic Elvis“.

Best wishes,
Claire
