Picture of the Week: Calanques, France

This picture of the week was taken at the Calanques in the south of France.

I planned on going on vacation to Marseille, and then somehow ended up on a bus to the Calanques (defined as narrow, steep-walled inlets along the Mediterranean coast). I got off in a very small and idyllic fishing village and hiked up the mountain. Thanks to totally wrong clothes, that wasn’t as easy as I thought. However, the overlook was totally worth it! If you also plan to go on vacation to Marseille, going to the Calanques for sure is a must-do. Take a hike and enjoy this fantastic landscape consisting of cliffs and the ocean. Since my visit, the Calanques between Marseille and Cassis became the „Parc National des Calanques“. This park is closed to public between the beginning of July and the middle of September – due to fire hazard.

Best wishes,
Claire
